Interview
When I initially received the call about this interview, I was very excited. The director told me it was a very laid back environment, not to come dressed up, and was very pleasant. The school is easy to get to, 2 minutes off the highway. I arrived and the interview began right away. They asked a series of questions about how I perceived Special Education, and whether I would be willing to "spoon feed" students information on assignments and tests because critical thinking was quite low in the majority of their students. They mentioned that in most cases, this would not improve, and I had to be ok with guiding students to the correct responses. One thing that was frustrating was that I was required to sign the contract during my interview. I was not allowed to take time to digest what we spoke about, and their contract is very onesided in that it states that you must provided 3 months notice for quitting, and that they will report you to the Ontario College of Teachers if you quit, AND that you cannot apply for any other teaching positions anywhere for a full year.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you ok with spoon feeding students the information on tests and assignments to ensure success, even if this means that they have received an "unfair advantage?"
Candidates never have to sign a contract "on the spot". We never have asked the question about "spoon feeding" information nor do we "spoon feed" as part of our program. This information is inaccurate.

Interview
I found an ad on my school's website. Apparently they send an add out in January/February to all teacher's colleges. The directors called to set up an interview within 24 hours of sending in my resume and application package. This included a lesson plan for a Social Studies class. The interview started with a written response to a very open-ended question. After writing the response, we talked about it and I answered many more of their questions

Interview
30 minutes - one day - all details of the job ie salary and benefits and hours were provided on a page so I did not have to ask questions about them. I appreciated this because otherwise asking the salary can be awkward
