      Interview

The interview was more of a sales pitch on buying the service that the company is trying to sell. It was clear that the interviewer was reading from a script.

      Java Developer Interview

      5 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Anaheim, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at SynergisticIT (Anaheim, CA) in Aug 2019

      Interview

SynergisticIT is a technical recruiter who claims to pair you with a company given you pass their code challenges. In reality, they give you difficult challenges well beyond your stated level (especially if you are a junior/beginner) in hopes that you do poorly so they can pitch they're expensive coding bootcamp. I found this company through a quick google search and I sent an email with my resume directly to the email link provided (one of their recruiters). The process began with a phone call asking what I know about their company and when I'd like to schedule a quick 15 minute phone screening to evaluate my technical skills on the languages I know. The following Monday I had my phone screening and the questions began very basic and moved to intermediate level questions. The next day I received an email stating that I would move on to the next portion which is a 90 minute coding challenge. I was very forthcoming with the fact that I was fresh out of a full-time, three month bootcamp and had an additional month experience as an intern at a software consultancy so my skill level was very junior. I received the link to the coding challenge and was shocked when the first question was in Java, a language I have not learned, and the other two were intermediate to advanced level challenges more fit for a mid to senior level developer. Needless to say I was unable to complete the challenge and emailed the recruiter to inform them. I also mentioned that I know they offer a bootcamp but explicitly stated that I was not interested as it was $25,000 ($10,000 down payment) and I had already completed a full-time bootcamp. The emailed response first began stating that these questions were "basic questions" and that "some do very well". The recruiter then insinuated that I wasted my money on the bootcamp I attended because they should have prepared me for these questions. This recruiter followed that remark by pitching their coding bootcamp and that it would guarantee me a job afterwards. I regret not researching this company through Glassdoor sooner because I would have prevented this gigantic waste of time! The recruiter I dealt with was very disingenuous and seemed nothing more than a salesperson trying to suck me into their bootcamp. I would stay away if you're a junior/entry level developer trying to get your foot in the door.

Hi thanks for writing a review for us and providing feedback. The testing procedure which we have is exhaustive and we utilize different coding challenge platforms which are used by 99% of tech clients. We understand and empathize with you that the coding questions were tough. We have questions which if candidates can clear then we pitch the candidates to our clients. Even then there is no guarantee that clients will pick the profile . At the same time we do have a exhaustive skill enhancement program which we offer and which is not mandatory we can still keep on marketing your profile if you score well in the test. The skill enhancement program which we have is very exhaustive and we cover the technologies which clients need ranging from mean stack development/Full stack development/AWS/Azure /Big data /Java and other programming languages . We do offer another option if you score well you can work on our payroll and work on our contracts and you don't have to pay anything upfront but we will still have to upgrade your skills to meet the client and industry requirements. We do understand that its frustrating when it feels like its a waste of time to get screened and not get any job . There are more than 5000 colleges in USA and every year almost 500000 candidates are coming into the job market when there is such an oversupply of fresh graduates looking for same entry level jobs no wonder its tough to find a job. The only way you can make yourself attractive to a client is when you have skills which are superior to other candidates in the job market otherwise for a prospective employer all entry level resumes look pretty much the same. We enable the incorporation of skills which are needed by the industry to make you stand out from the crowd and make you more appealing to clients. We apologize if you felt that the recruiter was trying to push you into a bootcamp we are way different than a bootcamp we are more towards skill enhancement and more detail oriented. OUr process has lead to hundreds and almost a thousand + candidates able to get an opportunity to work at google, apple, cisco systems, Ebay, Paypal, Walmart labs, etc to name a few. You might not like our process but we have proven results. Please feel free to drop into our office or even set up a phone or skype call and we can show you clients where our candidates are working etc . Everything which shines is not gold but not necessary that everything which shines is not gold also . Be informed , analyze evaluate and then make an informed decision . You will be hard pressed to find someone who worked with us and is not successful. Please feel free to contact us , email or phone us or set up an appointment and we would love to speak to you or clarify your doubts. We appreciate your comments and feedback
