I arrived 15 minutes early for my interview on a Friday. Waiting I had a chance to observe residents engaged in an activity. I had conversation with a nice senior, 45 minutes had passed before I knew it. Next, I was given an application to complete (I applied via Indeed.com).
The owner greeted me. He asked me a few questions and chatted. Very informal "He reviewed my application, experience (Gerontologist, MA, LVN, Cosmetologist/educator/trade show rep) more talk, stating he felt I might become bored in the position I had applied for. Expressing I did not feel this way, adding should advancement within the company presented itself in the future, I would be willing to step up to the challenge. 20-25 minutes.
Next I met the executive director, again very informal. He talked more about the facility, their goals, what makes them different. I presented a calendar & supplement I developed for review. About 20 mins in he stated "I like you, your not expecting to make 100k are you, lol?" I told him, negotiable, what does the job pay? It appears we are not going any further without me tossing out a number... I already know there is a driver, FT, possibly salary not hourly, including some weekends, and an assistant so I state I would like to make $38 annually, again negotiable depending on compensation packet.
He hasn't offered me the job, but asks me if I can return two days the following week to meet more people. I explain I work 60 miles away & would need to arrange time off with my current employer. At this point I've been at the facility for an hour and 45 mins. He asks me if I'm in a hurry, and I tell him no as I have arranged the day off to interview. He excuses himself.
A young lady appears without him. She spends 5 minutes with me, looks over my app & calendar. I let her know the ED asked me to return the following Monday and Tuesday to continue interviewing. I reiterate currently being employed M-F else ware. And that I would need to arrange personal time off, as I had done on this day. Since it is Friday, I can't fill out necessary paperwork to return on Monday. Gathering my items, the interview ends as she says, " We'll be in touch."
Its been 3 days, I would really like to work there. Beautiful grounds, happy residents, great values and goals. Happiness is there #1 goal. I hope they callđ
