I interviewed at Stryker (Kalamazoo, MI) in Jun 2013
Interview
The territory manager sent my resume to the hiring manager with whom I had a half an hour informal interview over dinner. Rode along with rep, but never heard back from manager.During the interview he gave every positive signal that I was the right fit for the job, but then I just never heard back from him, despite escalating work load for the associate-less rep and pressure from his end to the manager and multiple phone calls from me. Two months later HR called to interview me, but the HR person had a family emergency and had to reschedule. They never rescheduled. Another two months later I got a rejection email. All in all, it was one of the most unbelievable experiences of my professional life. I consider it to be the height of unprofessionalism.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to leave the easy world of pharma for this?
There are five to six stages! First a recruiter, then hiring manager, then personality test, then your actual boss, then a group Interview. The entire process takes about 1.5 to 2 weeks. Some people have to do a case study as well.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stryker
Interview
Very casual phone calls and coffee chats. The gallup is hard and questions can be ambiguous so talk to a rep beforehand and ask them about their experience and tips they have. For the most part it has been phone calls to understand who you are but make sure to sell yourself everytime.
The interview process has been great so far…my first one was a phone screening with their hiring manager. It was basic questions. Tell me about yourself. Why do you want to do medical sales who I’ve networked with etc. I then got moved on to an interview with their regional manager. The questions were tell me about yourself. What makes me different and then ended with behavioral questions that I focus using the star method to answer. I got moved onto the next round and now I’m waiting for an interview with the regional manager again, as well as other team members that I would be supporting. So far the interview process has been amazing and everyone I’ve met so far is great. I think as long as you have stories that you can tell about yourself as far as teamwork dealing with difficult situations from your past experience and how I think strategically is really important.
