      Account Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Streem (Surry Hills) in Jun 2024

      Interview

I applied online via Seek. Shortly after, I received an email from a HR representative inviting me to schedule a phone interview via a calendar link—very streamlined and convenient. The first interview was with the HR rep, who was warm, personable, and easy to talk to. We discussed my professional background, particularly my experience as an Account Manager. She clearly explained the role, its responsibilities, and what Streem was looking for in a candidate. During the conversation, she asked about my salary expectations. She then shared the company’s set rate for the role. I was asked to confirm whether I was happy to proceed at that rate before moving forward in the process. My belief is because it falls on the low end of the industry range. The discussion was transparent and respectful, which I appreciated. The second interview was held in person at their office with a senior manager and the head of the department. Both were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and conversational, creating a comfortable and engaging atmosphere. The energy in the room was genuinely positive. The very first question was to give my understanding of what Streem does. Followed by similar questions to the first interview, focusing on my professional background and experience as an Account Manager. Then, they transitioned into behavioural questions, each using the STAR format to explore how I handled specific situations in past roles. Both interviewers asked their own set of behavioural questions, which made the conversation dynamic and thorough. Toward the end they stipulated the salary, requesting my acceptance. At the end, they invited me to ask any questions I had. I asked three, and they expressed genuine appreciation for what they called “great questions.” They concluded the interview by outlining the expected timeline for their decision-making process, which was helpful and reassuring. At the end of the week, I received an email from their HR representative, informing me that I had not been selected for the role, as they had chosen to promote internally instead. They noted that they were impressed by my profile and would like to keep my details on record for future opportunities. I replied with appreciation for the opportunity, gave consent to retain my details, and expressed interest in another role they had just advertised. Unfortunately, I did not receive any further communication after that point.
