I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at State Farm (Richardson, TX) in Jan 2016
Interview
Behavioral phone interview and then an on-site technical interview . The on-site interview involved basic Java and Software related questions and 1 basic coding problem. There were 3 people and myself in a conference room and the whole interview process less than an hour.

I applied online. I interviewed at State Farm in Jun 2025
Interview
I received an invitation to participate in an online interview session. There was never a human person involved, nor that I got to interact with. The interview consisted of about 5 different questions that I had to record myself answering and an online coding assessment. The interview questions were all behavioral in nature and not that difficult. The coding assessment had a practice area that was very easy. The actual coding challenge itself was absurd and outdated. It was a Leet code type of environment that did not allow for any debugging efforts and a super old some kind of String compression question that no one uses. When you come from ten years of experience with writing API's, you do not do that kind of coding. There was never anyone that was physically human involved in the interview and I don't think that is very fair. I got a very generic rejection email about a week after whatever joke of an "interview" that that was. Extremely disappointing as I have been a customer of State Farm for many, many years. I guess it's time to switch insurance companies, and now I know why their website is garbage. Maybe they should put the Ai to a better use, such as improving their customer experience and their online presence, rather than shutting out experienced software engineers in bogus interviews.
