The interview process at the beginning was incredibly fast - I believe I applied the Tuesday before July 4 weekend, got a phone screen scheduled for right after the holiday, and then had an on-site within 10 calendar days from the phone screen.
Interview itself was informative and not overly exhausting (about 3 hours total). Got to meet the right people, ask the right questions, and got a great feel from the team overall.
A few days after the on-site, the company started a hiring freeze so it took some time before I received my offer. That being said, the hiring manager was *extremely* communicative and kept me continuously in the loop so I knew what was going on. Even when the freeze lasted longer than originally expected, he made sure I wasn't kept in the dark.
This sort of communication impressed me in comparison to other places I was interviewing. Throughout the whole process, I got a good feeling that the company cares about its employees and treats them with respect. When working at a startup is an easy recipe for getting burned out, I believe Starry stands out amongst many Boston area startup as a place where they do everything then can to ensure that doesn't happen. People are genuinely happy and get to work on the things that interest them - a true gem in the start-up world.
