The recruiting company interviewed me for a contract role by screening me for technical ability (and I passed). The meeting where I went to Starbuck's was more of a confirmation. I was given a job offer but as I was doing paperwork, I saw that a drug screen was mandatory for this position. Looking online, I see that Starbuck's baristas are hardly ever drug screened. For all their lip service of inclusiveness and collaboration, I find this to be hypocritical. The company supposedly values employees as "partners" but are still hiring temporary contract workers with different rules? During the interview, it was apparent that the company lacks direction and substance. I'll not apply here again.
