I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Standish Management (New York, NY) in Jun 2026
Interview
Met with the chief people officer who was really great, then with three other executives in quick succession. Each for about 45 minutes. Did not hear anything back for a week and had to proactively reach out to the Headhunter to figure out what was going on because I hadn’t heard a word. Did not receive any feedback whatsoever as to why I was not selected. The interview process itself was somewhat strange and unstructured, everyone asking me to tell them about myself and no direct questions about experiences that I had had at other companies. Definitely wasn’t what I expected, but I thought I did a good job, but apparently not.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself? Can you handle working for a company that has no internal structure?
Very conversational, low pressure. My behavior was questioned more than my technical abilities. Interviewers were friendly and made the process feel smooth and non threatening. Background of Standish and the role and knowing yourself is what counts
I applied online. I interviewed at Standish Management (Boston, MA) in May 2026
Interview
The process consisted of three rounds total:
Round 1 — Phone Screen with HR (30 minutes)
Introductory call with the recruiter covering background, interest in the role, and basic fit questions. Very conversational and low pressure.
Round 2 — Panel Interview with Two Fund Controllers (1 hour)
Met with two fund controllers in a panel format. The interview was almost entirely behavioral — they wanted to understand your background, how you work, and whether you’d be a good fit for the team. Questions were not highly technical. They were genuinely friendly and made it feel like a conversation rather than an interrogation. The interview ran slightly over an hour which felt like a good sign.
Round 3 — Final Round with Senior Manager (30 minutes)
Short, focused conversation with the senior manager. He explained the day-to-day aspects of the role in detail and left time for questions. Very professional and pleasant.
