Three weeks after I applied, I was invited to an interview. Employees told me I was going to fit in great and enjoy working there, and the interview went seemingly well. Two weeks later I called for a follow up. They said HR was out for the day but the position remained open and I was under review. A week later, I called again, and they gave the same answer. A week later, now a month after my interview, I called again, and they gave the same response. However, an hour later, I received a generic email template addressed to (Candidate Name). They didn’t even bother to fill out the template, and they did not offer any non-generic feedback for why I’ve been turned down. The lack of professionalism and the two months I wasted on the process has made me feel obligated to caution people against applying. I have 3 years experience working the same role at the Hesburgh library and a degree from Notre Dame, yet the generic email said they found someone with more experience for this part time entry level role. Despite the secretary telling me it remains open just this morning. Please find more responsible and respectful companies to apply to.
