I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Spaceship Financial Services (Sydney) in Oct 2018
Interview
The first step of the interview was a phone call with the Head of People Operations. After that, I was invited for a face to face interview with two of the developers for a cultural interview. The interview was mostly about my past experiences and the work that I am doing in my current role. It did not involve technical challenges. I found it very interesting that the company perform the cultural interview first!
The 2nd interview was with two developers (female backend developer and a male frontend developer). The questions were mostly generic with a few relatively easy algorithm questions. The interview was very pleasant, friendly, professional, and relaxed. After that, I had a chat with the Head of People Operations again. He asked me about my expected salary. I indicated my expected salary to which he replied that is a reasonable amount, and they have offered a higher number than what the candidates have asked in the past. That was an interesting experience that I have never had before.
Since they thought, I'd be better suited for a backend role, the company invited me for a 3rd interview with backend developers. (two males). The interview was completely technical with two algorithm questions. The questions were quite interesting and thought-provoking, but not necessarily very easy. Although, they were not particularly difficult as well.
I received a reply from the Head of People Operations very soon that was nice and very detailed. Although they didn't offer me a role, I really enjoyed the company culture and the process, overall.
