The interview process was thorough and included multiple phone calls, video meetings, and an in-person, out-of-state visit. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and seemed genuine, and the early stages left a positive impression. Early in the process, I was told the role would involve a certain amount of travel, but that expectation noticeably increased as conversations continued. I was also told the bonus structure details were not be shared upfront “to see how serious people are about the role,” which I found concerning.
After the onsite visit, I was verbally told there was strong interest in bringing me on board and was asked to meet with one final member of the leadership team. Unfortunately, that conversation raised some concerns, my questions about the role and company seemed to be received defensively, which shifted the tone. I was told I’d receive an update the following week, but there was no communication for several weeks until I eventually received a rejection email.
While I had already moved on to another opportunity by that point, I hope the company reconsiders how leadership engages with prospective candidates, is transparent about role expectations, and ensures the process respects candidates’ time and contributions.
