Not one to jump on reviews following an application rejection, but the process i engaged in was terrible to say the least! ...and this was only at screening stage!
I was happy to see contact from Soul Foods following my application for the new HR manager role. I have a long history in Starbucks/Soul and was keen to re-enter the coffee industry in a HR capacity. However, i left the screening call with a bitter taste in my mouth.
To start, I didn't exactly get an enthusiastic/welcoming vibe from the recruiter, who regularly stated how busy she was (is that my problem...?) and mentioned that therefore, the call would be very quick, With this in mind, i often felt cut off when answering questions, In addition, a large portion of the call asked the same questions i previously answered in the application...? (in a rather robotic fashion might i add!) which i felt was unusual, either that or the recruiter didn't bother to look into my application prior to the call. The icing on the cake was when the screening call suddenly shifted into a final stage interview, asking me to give examples of a time when...? etc, which i felt was something they should've informed me to prepare for in advance...? and given the rushed nature of the call, was something i felt i had to scramble together. Given this particular call has ultimately decided the outcome of my application, i would say that the pacing/content of this interview was unacceptable and should be reviewed.
This isn't on the back of being bitter that i was rejected, this is the first application that i was actually happy/relieved to see the rejection (and now i understand the rather poor employee review ratings), i feel it necessary to flag that this approach is poor in terms of selling the business and providing a good first impression to people who would actually be interested in joining.
