I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Snap (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2016
Interview
Was contacted by a recruiter to interview with them. I did not apply online. Decided to see what life at snapchat would be like so started the process. Initial recruiter call. Unfortunately they interview for a general role, not for a specific team (like google, they seem to prefer generalist coders).
Had my then one hour video call with an engineer. Their tech failed multiple times and had to reschedule. Recruiters were horrible at keeping me updated. Actual video call was 30 mins of talking about my past coding work, high level architecture questions. Then went online to do one coding question. Was not well defined. Expected you to have a fully working algorithm in 20 mins, which was kind of unreasonable.

Hard but interesting. Had to go through 1 HM round, 2 coding rounds and 2 systems design rounds. Coding round was hit counter, and message recommendation system. The System design rounds were a bit challenging.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Design a recommendation system for messaging to predict the next word while typing
For the technical rounds, I was asked leetcode style questions. Need to practice Data structures and algorithms in order to do well on the interviews. It's important to explain the code as you go along and clarfiy any questions with the interviewer.
Interviewer is not good, has an accent and doesn’t point you in the right direction. Did not seem to be on your side the whole time. It was not a very nice experience.
