I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smashing Boxes (Durham, NC) in Apr 2016
Interview
The process consisted of a single phone screen followed by an onsite. The onsite was very informal, it seemed to mostly be a culture fit interview as I was asked no technical questions. Afterwards though I followed up after a week of no response and they said they would get back to me. I finally just moved forward with a different company after about a month, but I still don't understand why they wouldn't at the very least send me an email saying one way or the other on the outcome.
Thank you for taking the time to give us detailed and specific feedback. Our recruiting process and passion in building relationships with various members of the Triangle community is a point of pride and something we feel we excel at. We are so sorry you did not feel you had that same experience. We love to mentor and grow young engineers - it's something we are great at! Regarding out code test, when we come across exciting but young engineers, we make an effort to provide transparent feedback along with tips for improvement. We fully support the advice and feedback we relayed in our communication as pathways to improvement as well as the access offered to multiple coding courses and the opportunity to re-take the test/re-apply at a time of your choosing. The offer still stands to grab a coffee with a member of our engineering team and/or Director of Engineering. Wishing you the best in your search and we are always around for advice and support.
