      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Slalom (Washington, DC) in May 2017

      Interview

First of all let me say, Slalom DC is looking for great people who want to do great things—and personalities that fit well with their vision and culture. Because it is a newer location, they are still building practices out and it feels a bit like a start-up, with energy to match. So a willingness to go with the flow is essential. The hiring process from initial conversation to interviewing and offer has been direct and overall what should expected from such an organization. You do not just hand in a resume and have one interview. They are not just looking for people to fill seats. They vet each candidate several times, requiring multiple visits and pre-visit conversations with the recruiter. Each interview and conversation was candid and insightful with a focus on your work and range of skills but also what drives you, how you think and your openness. The recruiter was friendly, direct and responsive, explaining each step as the process unfolded.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Washington, DC) in Aug 2019

      Interview

Slalom's interview process was one of the best I have ever experienced. I did not feel like they were just trying to fill a position with just anyone. Slalom is looking for people who will fit well with their culture as well as individuals who are determined to grow their careers. Throughout the entire process everyone including the recruiter, senior level employees, and hiring managers made sure to get to know the type of designer and person I am from asking my short and long term personal and professional goals. The process took about a month including application, recruiter screening, two phone interviews, and one in person interview with three senior level employees. Each interview was very conversational, but also there were some technical design questions here and there, which is to be expected when interviewing for any design role.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (McLean, VA) in Jul 2019

      Interview

One of the best interview and hiring experiences I've ever encountered. I applied online for a position at the DC (McLean, VA) office and the entire process took about 4-5 weeks. The interview process consisted of an initial phone screening with a talent recruiter, a 1 on 1 phone interview with my manager, 3 back to back 30 minute in-person interviews with members of the design team (where we walked through various projects in my portfolio), and a final round of in-person interviews with Senior leaders. Throughout the entire process, I was so impressed with how incredibly responsive, engaging, and helpful my recruiter was. It truly really made the difference! Though you can expect to encounter the typical interview questions about work experience, software expertise, and skill set, the interviews (at every stage) are more conversational in nature and geared towards getting to know you better as a person. My best advice to prospective hires is to be open and be yourself.

      Interview

I met with about 6 people throughout the day and everyone was extremely genuine. The interview felt more like conversation even with the behavioral questions. We mostly focused on my skills and my goals. Best interview experience I have ever had!
