I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Skillz in Dec 2019
Interview
Very bizarre /torturous process. In total they got over 8 hours of free labor out of me in the form of testing. The take home analytics assignment was pretty easy, but when I arrived on site I was so uncomfortable I could barely get through the programming tests & case studies. The testing process is very awkward as you're in a hot box conference room with panels of people coming in and out to read questions off of a sheet of paper and stare at you in silence while you figure out the answer. Very few non scripted interactions and I wasn't able to get a feel for the culture or operating style or really anything at all.
I was surprised to find my experience so similar to others who've written reviews on this platform. Hopefully Skillz will utilize this feedback to improve the experience for future applicants.
Behavioral + few case rounds, met a lot of interviewers. Overall just focused on why Skillz, and highlighted analytical skillset and thought process. Many rounds but were all 1 on 1s.

Interview
Process starts with 2 technical assessments, followed by 4 interviews with the first one being a case study interview. The case study interview was conducted by a junior analyst with very little experience in both work and interviews. The interviewer only parroted case study questions, did nothing to have a conversation about the direction. Case interviewers normally nudge the interviewees in specific directions if there is a specific answer they're getting at, but he did not do so.
Technical assessments have very strict time limits, requires candidates solve math problems in incredibly quick succession. It also seems like they get anyone that's available to do the case interview, this part of the process will be a dice roll on whether you get someone who knows what they're talking about or how to interview.
The case study interview is followed by standard interviews on fit. The priorities in the technical assessments don't make any sense.

Interview
2 week long interview process with long case interviews. Super time consuming process and don't expect to get any feedback from them after they reject you. All of the interviewers are looking for specific answers to questions and will dock you on their rubric if you don't say what they want you to.
