Interview
Originally applied for a data engineering position, but was persuaded to move forward with a mobile opportunity.
Two phone screens, then a first onsite with the CTO. This onsite was extremely casual, where I drove most of the conversation (not necessarily a bad thing, as I was able to flush out several lines of inquiry).
This was followed-up by a take home assignment, which I thought was pretty unclear and without a lot of direction (maybe intentionally?). My effort towards the take home assignment was more architectural than polish, which confused them to no small amount. During the presentation of the assignment, which was with a UI/UX designer and two developers, they had a lot of problems technically and managerially running the interview. Their questions were poorly delivered and pretty stock. I left that interview (the 4th?) thinking that I was operating at a much higher level than everyone in the room.
I was honestly shocked when two days later they contacted me to say that they were not going to be moving forward. I felt that I showed strongly through all the interviews, to the point where I was consistently teaching them things throughout. Now, I am not an Alpha Developer, and truly feel that I am not overlooking the chance that I was alienating them, or something like that. I spoke about leadership, mentorship, collaboration, ... so I don't feel that I came on too strong.
But I haven't been able to solicit any feedback yet, so... who knows?

CEO-Thanks for sharing your impressions. Unfortunately it looks like we just weren't a cultural fit. That's not a bad thing. It's better that we jointly figure this out in the interview process. There are plenty of good people in the world who just aren't meant to work together. I appreciate the effort you put into the demo and feel pretty strongly that you are due specific feedback.
