No initial phone screen. They scheduled an on-site meeting with no phone screen. I drove a couple hours to meet with these guys and immediately knew the manager didn't like me the minute he saw me. I mean, if you are going to judge someone on appearance or age, be a little discreet about it.
The director-level dude made nice and I thought we actually had a decent interview. One hour conversation with each guy. The interview with the manager started cold but I thought went well by the end.
I guess not.
Because the standard interview process here seems to be telling the candidate they will hear back on Monday, but then...crickets. Oh, also ignoring the follow up email. So basically interview a candidate in person but not have enough common courtesy to tell the candidate to go screw himself.
I honestly would be less bitter and less cynical if they had an ounce of respect for anyone.
Common courtesy would be to contact the candidate that you interviewed. No interview? Prolly OK to ignore the candidate. We all know there are tons of applicants. But if you bring someone in to a face to face, be professional and don't ghost the candidate.
