I applied online and was contacted by at least four different recruiters to schedule an interview, which seemed disorganized. The first round with the Director of UXR went well—she thoroughly explained the role, asked about my key skills, and answered all my questions, even though the interview ran over time. For the second round, the recruiter informed me it would be with Staff UXRs to assess my research skills, so I assumed it would be a discussion or portfolio review. Instead, I was surprised to find it was a research/whiteboard challenge where I had 20 minutes to propose a research plan. This lack of clarity and preparation from the recruiter was frustrating and unprofessional. Candidates deserve transparent communication about interview expectations, especially for tasks like challenges or case studies.
