      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Second Nature

      Interview

Well planned, and executed. Interviewer was friendly kind and respectful. Though the interview really lasts almost a week out "in the field". Which was also a blast, if you enjoy the outdoors.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How comfortable are you living in the woods for a week at a time.
      Answer question
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Second Nature in May 2022

      Interview

After completing the application you are contacted for a phone interview. They ask basic questions about your experience and educational background, why you want to work in wilderness therapy, your experience in the outdoors and working with youth etc. You can ask them any questions about the program. If the interview goes well you are invited to an in-field interview/ training. If you make it this far they really like you for the job but it is not guaranteed. The In-field interview is challenging physically but more so emotionally. The company is all about therapy and you really dive into even your own therapy during the field interview. It's pretty amazing. You backpack, learn to make fire by "busting", set up and take down camp, and learn minimal impact camping and shelter building. The physical stuff like hiking and setting up shelters can be hard, but they help you through it. You don't have to have experience with those things, just be willing to learn and get better at them. You can leave the in-field interview anytime you want if it's not for you. You are officially offered a position at the end of the field interview. If you are offered the job you are also paid for doing the in-field interview as it is the beginning of your training.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Are you open to giving and receiving feedback? They are all about growth and self-improvement, so field staff give each other feedback (positive and hard feedback) every week
