I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at San Francisco Public Library (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I was interviewed by two upper management personnel. It was just like any other interview. They both have a piece of paper in front of them, asking the questions on them. Most of them are related to costumer service and many of them are all common sense. So whatever first comes to mind, that'll be your gut answer. There were two steps to the interview process, second will be with the branch manager. That's a more informal one, where they want to get to know you more.

Question 1
It was awhile ago, more than 5 years ago. So I really did not recall any interview questions in detail. Many of them were very straight forward. I do remember one question I did not answer was, "tell me about your strength". What am I good at? This question was asked during the second part of the interview process. I can not think of anything, so I did not answer that.
I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at San Francisco Public Library in Feb 2024
Interview
Interviewed by a panel of five people including fellow librarians and HR. I felt like the interview was fair and thorough. Overall, the hiring process for the city is very long, from the time I submitted an application to the time I interviewed it was about eight months.
