I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Samsung Global Strategy Group (Boston, MA) in Nov 2014
Interview
Quite a long recruiting process (1 phone screening + 2 face-to-face interviews + 1 presentation), with little visibility of what are you being measured on.
Interviewers will be very polite and overall receptive to your questions (consider that some of them will be literally brain-fried because of the jet-lag when they interview you on campus); short and clear answers will be highly appreciated.
During the recruiting process you will notice that your interviewers will put a lot of emphasis on your willingness to move to Korea; be sure that you are OK with that decision as it seems to be tested in every single interaction.
The interviews are relatively easier than the ones you would get at the big three strategy firms but the process could put your patience to the test, so don't try to push things and enjoy the ride.
At least in one stage one of your interviewers will be a bar-raiser, he/she will ask very tough questions about your motivations and can even get a little bit personal but apparently they are trying to have a sense of how thick your skin is.
I applied through university. I interviewed at Samsung Global Strategy Group (Seoul) in Apr 2026
Interview
Round 1: CV and Video Cover Letter - highly selective in this round, must have really good video cover letter
Round 2: Case + Behavioral + Mini Cases / behavioral (2.5-3hr, two sessions, very straightforward case and questions, you get a small break between the two sessions, while it is three interviews, two of them may be combined and delivered by one interviewer/group of interviewers)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Given seven slides, how would you enter this new market if you were Samsung? What would be your first steps? Second steps? Do you think Samsung should enter the market?
45 min behavioral interview + 45 min case interview back to back, each with 2 interviewers. Largely focus on fit with the company and very similar to management consulting interview format.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Samsung Global Strategy Group (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2024
Interview
fit & behavioral test (mostly general behavioral, fit to Samsung fit to Korea), case interview (consulting style), presentation (bunch of slides and need to present based on prompt/key questions to solve).
