A recruiter reached out asking me to share my availability for a phone screening - within a few minutes of that email, I received a second automated email saying the company didn't have my information with a link back to a new application. I replied to the recruiter's email asking if this was sent in error and if I needed to reapply - I also included my availability for the next two weeks and asked for the recruiter to confirm what day and time I should expect to receive a call. I did not receive a response. Instead, the following day, I received a phone call from the recruiter about 10 minutes before my shared availability, and again a few minutes before. I picked up and explained I was just leaving my office but would be happy to continue to chat - the recruiter bluntly said 'that's weird. I don't ever talk to people who actually work in an office...you do understand this is remote work, right? Do you even have remote work experience?" From there, the rest of the conversation was not very pleasant. The recruiter said it would be 'silly of me' to talk about my current position or any of previous non-sales, but industry related experience. We talked in circles multiple times about my previous quotas, territories, customers and more than once told me my 4 years of sales experience did not make any sense. In my previous AEX role, I supported net-new logos and a book of upsell business to long-time existing customers. The recruiter asked me twice where those customers came from; I explained they were existing long-time customers - but again the recruiter asked - but where did they come from? I further explained how accounts / territories of existing customers were allocated at my previous company and then the recruiter told me I was 'clearly not understanding anything I'm asking' and abruptly said let's move on - what questions do you have? The next day, I received an automated 'congratulations on making it to the next step within the interview process' email that asked for my feedback on the process so far. I sent a brief thank you note to the recruiter, reiterated my experience, provided detailed results of my previous quota achievement, and even apologize if I was unclear or unprepared when we spoke. Minutes later, I then received an automated 'Thanks but we've decided to move on with better candidates' email. No actual reply from the recruiter. Mostly, I'm confused - it was a strange interview experience. I really expected more from the company. The lack of confirmation/communication from the recruiter was really disappointing.
