      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in May 2021

      Interview

I had an interview with Human Resources, then an interview with Marketing. I was asked to complete a homework assignment, for which I wrote five pages of content, including an original blog post on a requested topic. After this, I was told that the company wished to proceed and I was asked for my availability to come into HQ to continue discussions in person with the team. What was unprecedented in my career was that after this I was completely ghosted by the people I had spoken with. I received no response to my emails nor did I get any explanation why the company stopped communicating with me after being told the company wanted to proceed.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Develop a strategy for an ongoing blog series around safety. 2. Plan an editorial strategy for contributions to this blog series from internal and external experts. 3. Define the editorial workflow. 4. Lastly, select one of your proposed blog posts and write it.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in May 2024

      Interview

Very disappointed in the overall interview process. They put me through five (5) 30-minute interview sessions, one (1) 45-minute interview question, and also required a homework assignment that they state should take no more than 1 hour, but it took up the better part of an entire weekend to meet expectations. I honestly didn't mind any of that, and I worked really hard to prepare for each and every interview session. What greatly disappointed me was, after undergoing this entire process, I was turned down, and upon respectfully asking for feedback, I was ignored. For a company to require so much from a candidate but to not at least reply to a simple and respectful email requesting feedback is unacceptable. In that moment, the company lost all my respect, and I hope they take this to heart and strengthen their respect for candidates who take so much time out of their busy lives to apply to the company.

      Question 1

The company uses behavior-based interviewing techniques.
