I had a online written test (Hackajob).
I completed the written test with 100% accuracy but haven't heard back.
This has happened to me twice taking 6 hours of my total effort.
The online test at Sainsbury seems to be a scam or I am not sure what to call it.
I request the candidates to be cautious before putting efforts on Sainsbury's interview process.
Generally, I tend to avoid posting negative reviews but this is something which I wanted to convey.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Online test contains 2 problems.
1. Leetcode style problem.
2. Changes in Spring boot application
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Sainsbury’s in Jan 2025
Interview
As per another - Had a request on Hackajob, applied as per usual. Had a follow up to schedule a technical test (quite easily taking an hour or two out of the day). Did it and can say that it was 100% accurate to the requirements. Radio silence for a month, and had a text message saying I'd failed the assessment.
Seems this is a waste of time and they don't have a role, but instead of communicating that, you get made to feel incompetent.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
'leetcode' style task to output all numbers with a given length where each digit, left to right, must be ascending
additional spring boot task to implement an API that combines data from two endpoints.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sainsbury’s (Manchester, England) in Dec 2024
Interview
The recruiter described a senior engineer position but during the interview it was explained that actually senior is the lead equivalent at Sainsbury's. I had previously raised with the recruiter ahead of time when no lead role was described in the overview of teams and was told the EM holds the tech lead role. The interview itself was fine and those conducting were lovely. Not sure why Sainsbury's wouldn't just call their lead role a lead role thought to be honest.

Question 1
I was asked to draw out a diagram of infrastructure I'd worked on.
