I applied online. I interviewed at Safeway (Maple Valley, WA) in Jun 2019
Interview
Quick and simple interview process. Interviewer felt genuinely interested in my answers and it overall felt like a conversation between us! Ended up receiving a job offer on the spot.
This particular Safeway is in South Lake Tahoe and the interview process was strange, at best. The manager took me into a partitioned room near the bathrooms where twenty or so disused desktop computers were sitting on desks unused, like a dystopian memory from 1998. She proceeded to read questions from a paper document, writing down my answers herself, as if she didn't even trust me to write things down. She then argued with me about having applied using Indeed. I had a confirmation email from Indeed, so I could have proven that I used it to apply for this job. But the manager was adamant that Safeway cancelled their contract with Indeed and they no longer listed jobs on that site. The interview only got worse from there. I was offered several jobs in different departments - all entry level. This would have been a survival job for me, as I'm way too experienced for such things. A day later, she emailed a rejection letter, and I was very relieved to see it.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Would you work in a refrigerated room cutting fruit?
The interview process was easy. I was signed up through Indeed. The Safeway employer asked a few questions. We talked a bit. The job was not a right fit for me. They only guarantee you 20 hours a week.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked if I was willing to come in at 1 in the morning.
It was an easy and quick interview. We talked about previous experience and why I would want to work there. I was interviewed by the store manager right when I applied.
