I went through a screening call, a group zoom interview, and then an in person interview. A few days after my last interview, I was asked to do a project as I was “one of two” finalists. I was insulted that my 30 years of experience and my portfolio weren’t enough. Red flags! Against my better judgement, I completed the assignment, which took me several hours. SDS communicated that a decision would happen on a certain date. That day came and went. Then I received the most humiliating semi-rejection email of my career. I was “a close second” so they offered the job to another candidate who, wait for it … needed the weekend to think about it. The email implied that SDS might call me if the other candidate declined their offer! I wouldn’t work at SDS for any amount of money. They don’t know how to hire, interview, or clearly define a role.
