The interview process was informative. However, when the contract for employment was sent to me, the rate of pay after certification was $3 lower than what was described in the interview. The “2 year committment” did not actually begin until six months after classes began. So the 2 year commitment was actually a 2.5 year commitment. ***This next part is very important to consider.. The penalty for leaving the 2 year commitment early was a payment of wages earned in training (about $3000) PLUS the imagined “market rate” of the course itself ($3000), all DUE IN FULL within 30 days of leaving the commitment. Payment plans were not accepted. Threat of collections was included if payment was not received. I am not sure how this contract is even acceptable. Other EMT classes, like one through Hendricks is $800 upfront cost. Another through Indianapolis EMT is $1200. I have not seen any that are $3000.
I feel like the interview was a strange waste of time considering much of the most important information was left out or misrepresented.
