Interview consisted of standard questions about background, motivation, etc. The interview also focused on macro events and investment ideas. You get the chance to speak with everyone as part of the interview, including members of other investment teams and operations teams. The company has a habit of ghosting its candidates after several rounds of interviews. It appears that some of the interviews are to keep a pipeline of candidates in case the top candidate rejects the offer.

This was one of the more lengthy interview processes I've gone through but to the company's credit, they were very upfront about the timing and effort involved. It made a world of difference because they successfully managed expectations early and so there were no surprises. From day one I was told it could take a couple months for the process to unfold and that is exactly what happened. I never felt like it was being drawn out unnecessarily or I was being left in the dark. There were roughly three rounds of interviews and the final one was a super-day which required me to take off work. The super-day included a one hour panel presentation on an investment case study. I was given 8 business days to prepare for the case study which is on par with the time provided by other investment funds. What I liked most about the interview process was two-fold. First, RockCo's clear "no jerks" policy was evident. Not a single person who interviewed me out of the nearly dozen were rude or disrespectful. They made me feel valued and appreciated, which is not always the case when interviewing for jobs in finance. Second, Human Resources, Recruiting, and the team I'll be working for were prompt and communicative throughout the process. That made me feel valued as well. I cannot understate how good it felt when I accepted the offer that I'd be going to work at a place like this. It was high-quality people interacting with me, across multiple levels of seniority and different functions.
