The process took 1 day. I interviewed at River Island in Nov 2010
Interview
The interviewer was very friendly and quite informal and started off making us learn something about the person next to us. We were asked questions about customer service and examples where we've gone the extra mile and asked about ourselves and how we would describe ourselves. We were asked to pick an outfit for a certain event and even asked about current trends in fashion. They kept back a few people, who they said had missed out some information on their applications, but had instead kept them behind to employ them, as I later found out from a friend. I got the expected rejection email. It seemed to me they only hire candidates who fit their 'look'.
I applied online. I interviewed at River Island (Birmingham, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
Group interview of around 15. First task was saying your name a bit about you out loud, just general information it seems like name age what you do. Then the second task was writing down good customer service and bad customer service in your little group and reading it out to the group. During this, they are checking to see what you say, but try not to talk over anyone but definitely stand out. The second task was getting clothes from the shop floor presenting your outfit and explaining your choice. I don’t believe they cared too much about your previous experience but rather your personality.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Introduce yourself
2. What’s is good/bad customer service
3. Go to the shop floor and pick out an outfit and present your choice
Fine, questions not always relevant but seems like a personality test I suppose. Nice enough interview in general. Quite quick interview, didn’t end up getting the job though , oh well
