I applied online. I interviewed at Rifle Paper Co. (New York, NY) in Nov 2024
Interview
They use an internal online messaging and scheduling system that I'd never seen before and was not particularly intuitive to use. Otherwise it was a fairly smooth process. The interviewer was a brand manager for the marketing side but had been doing all copywriting for quite a while, which sounded crazy given they are a fairly large indie company with lots of partnerships and projects.

Interview
The recruiter reached out to me to ask for my portfolio, which was strange because 1) I included it in the application and 2) it was the second line of my resume, meaning the recruiter never looked at it. After two weeks, I followed up and the recruiter said "they were still reviewing my qualifications"...then nothing. I don't think they were actually looking to fill the position.

Interview
I did not make it past the HR pre-screening phone call (which I don't think has ever happened to me before). The call felt formal and awkward rather than an organic conversation. She asked a series of traditional interview questions and gave no response to my answers. The worst part was when I asked where their NYC office was, she didn't know the answer.
