The first interview was a Skype interview, which included my recruiter and one other person from the company, and was easy enough. The next step was an online assessment that took about an hour and a half. It was all math and logic questions. I moved on to the next round, which was a Skype interview with a Sales manager from the area I was looking to move to. The interview went extremely well, I could tell the manager liked me, and was excited to hear next steps. My recruiter confirmed what I believed, and told me the manager really enjoyed our conversation, but they had reservations about my moving to that area due to not having any family or friends nearby and the fact that it was a high cost of living area. So, they asked me to consider another area. They sent me a list of office locations and I sent back a list of my top three choices, as requested.
In this same time, they told me I actually need to re-take the assessment/exam, and it needs to be proctored this time. So I set up Skype on my phone and took the assessment on my computer, which took about 2 hours to complete again. When the recruiter got back to me a week later, they responded and told me, actually my top 2 cities were not looking to fill those roles. So I interviewed for my third choice. The manager that I interviewed with for this location was condescending, rude, actually scoffed at some of the things I said. I knew he wouldn’t consider me for the position, and it felt like it had more to do with my age and gender than my experience.
Eventually, two weeks later, they emailed me to give me the feedback that I was not going to be moving forward in the process. After 3 Skype interviews and almost 4 hours spent on assessments. The interview process had taken about four weeks at this point, for an entry level sales role. And they couldn’t even be bothered to verbally pass along the message after the commitment and time I had put in to the interview process. I also received no feedback as to why they decided not to move forward.
Interviewing for this company was a massive waste of time. The process was extremely messy, the recruiters had no idea which locations has open positions, and it seemed very unprofessional overall. I would not ever recommend someone go through all of this just to get a low-level sales job. The salary offered was also low, and did not increase at all for areas with significantly higher cost of living.
