      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Reynolds and Reynolds (Houston, TX) in Dec 2017

      Interview

Please read all that I have to say if you are considering applying to work for Reynolds and Reynolds. I spent a lot of time in this company's hiring process so I have a lot to say. I originally applied to R&R's Dayton location back in early October. About a week later, I was emailed a link to a personality and aptitude assessment to take. The aptitude section involved math, pattern recognition, history, grammar, and business terminology questions. A week after I took the assessment, I was called to schedule a Skype interview with a recruiter the following week. I had this interview and this consisted mostly of behavioral questions. There was no technical questions in this first interview. After this interview, they had me fill out a form asking me questions to get to know me and they had me take an ethics assessment. A week after the first interview, they called me to set up a Skype interview with their VP of software development the following week. This time, the interview involved more technical questions, but was more focused on projects I had on my resume rather than my actual knowledge of coding. In this interview, they also asked me if I was open to working in Houston instead of Dayton and I said yes. A week after this interview, I was called to set up a third Skype interview two weeks later, this time with the VP of the Houston location's development department. This interview was very similar to the one I had just before. Around the same time, I was also called to do a proctored assessment via Skype of the math and pattern recognition assessment I took when I first applied. They essentially just watched me on a camera as I took the assessment to make sure I was following the assessment's rules. A week after this interview and proctored assessment, I was called to schedule a flight to their Houston office for an in-person interview and office tour for the following week. This interview was a more technical interview, this time there was questions about finding and fixing bugs in a code snippet and also questions about data structures, namely linked lists and binary search trees. They also had me do a background check and a drug test. A week later I was told I was not selected. As for my opinions on all this, I think this process was far too lengthy. It took them 2 and a half months from the moment I applied to turn me down, so if you're in a hurry to get a job, you might want to look elsewhere. As far as the interviews go, I feel like they were all pretty reasonable in difficulty. I do have to say though that I personally wasn't prepared enough for the in-person interview and I felt like I didn't do as well on it as I should've. The people that I was able to talk to throughout the whole process were all very friendly and fun to talk to, they all seemed like very nice people. So in the end, I do feel bummed that I didn't get the job, but I'm also happy that I was able to get that far in their hiring process and learn from my mistakes for the next time I apply somewhere. Hope this helps for anyone applying to R&R.

I took the online personality/aptitude test and received an invitation to a phone interview. The recruiter was nice and explained the next steps to me, telling me that the next step was for the director to review me. Later, I received an email telling me I was not chosen to continue in the process.
