I received an offer from the company at the end of the interview process. Overall my experience through the interview process was very inconsistent and impersonal. The members of the team, starting from the recruiter to the hiring manager, gave the impression that they didn’t care about people and everyone was just a number. When I asked the recruiter to reschedule dates or clarify, as I was travelling, she didn’t respond but once I submitted my work she responded immediately. During the interview process with the members of different teams, the members came across as rude and impatient. The final interview was by far the worst experience I have had during the interview. I assumed it was “tough” on purpose to check if I can deal with a high stress situation. Post the interviews, I received an offer, an inflated value for equity, calculated based on some ridiculous formula, and a lower position than interviewed for, and was given a timeline of 2 business days to decide – a scare tactic used in retail to give the person a sense of feeling that they might miss out if they don’t decide quick enough. I asked further clarification on equity value and share value, which I was met by preposterous claims. Please do your research, what a startup should pay and disclose in the equity package. My interaction with the hiring manager seemed rude again. On further investigation on the company and the hiring manager, I realized there were a ton of negative articles about bad culture at the company. Long hours do not mean bad culture but senior leadership not knowing how to treat people, is a recipe for bad culture and disaster. The attrition rate in the company is extremely high. Here was my interview process, to help others prepare: Had 5 interviews: - An analytical test online - did notice some vague question headings and typos in there. - A take home test - which was fairly long but I personally enjoyed the challenge - 2 interview with different members of the team - Interview with head of operations. He came across extremely unprofessional and had very little emotional intelligence. Note: Lastly, be careful of the reviews you see of them on Glassdoor - they encourage people to write a review for them when they are part of the company. I received a link to Glassdoor review site the day i got the offer contract from them. The reviews can be fairly skewed towards people who are still in the company. =
