I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Rent-A-Center (Portland, OR) in Mar 2009
Interview
First had contact with Rent A Center at a local job fair. I picked them to focus on at the fair based on my belief that it was more recession proof than many retail companies. Talked with the HR rep and a disctrict manager there very informally. District Manager gave me his card and told me to call him to set up an interview. Did so and left him a message. Next day another district manager called me to set up a one-on-one. Had the interview a few days later. Very straight forward. He read many questions from form of sample questions. Very tipical quesitons. He called me the next day and job offered me at a low pay rate. I declined due to pay and he increased his offer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What was your most challenging employee as a manager.
The interview was pretty informal. Just discussing experience and then talking about the job. I did 2 interviews because they were changing district managers so my initial interview was lost.

Question 1
If I would be available for mandatory overtime each day
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Rent-A-Center (Portland, OR) in May 2016
Interview
I showed up a few minutes early and was asked to wait in the showroom. After waiting for 20 minutes (15min) after my scheduled time a young manager invited me into a small unorganized office. He then spent a few minutes looking for my resume while talking about the other horrible interviews he had already done.
There was a 5 minute question answer period where he asked questions then continued to talk before letting me answer. He would cut me off and say "I got it" then ask another question. Repeat.
At the end he said I passed the screening process and I'd have to come back to talk with the hiring manager.

I swear the questions were right out of a book. How long were you at your last employer, why did you leave, Tell me about your strength, tell me about your weakness etc
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Rent-A-Center (Haddonfield, NJ) in Feb 2015
Interview

Rent-A-Center job interviews, which are typically held onsite, may include multiple question-and-answer sessions with assistant and store managers as well as computerized skills tests. Promising candidates typically undergo drug testing and criminal background checks as the final step of the Rent-A-Center hiring process and begin work after satisfactory results arrive.
