      Software Engineer Interview

      12 Mar 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Red Badger in Feb 2019

      Interview

I was approached by their internal recruitment for an Android position. I had never heard about this company before but after reading a bit about them I was interested. The interview process described to me sounded simple (which is good) and I was told things can move rather quick, depending only on me/my availability. Communication from their side was always terrible and borderline unprofessional. I was constantly told "I'll get back to you shortly" but that never happened. I had to constantly reach out to them in order to get things moving. Somehow, halfway through this, the position changed from a permanent to a contract one, without them telling me. I found out through a recruitment agency. After this, their recruiter said they were having a hard time finding someone to interview me (not a good sign, I have to admit) so he asked me if I could do the take home test first. I accepted, did the exercise and sent the solution. The recruiter comes back to me saying that the engineers were impressed and as such they were keen to make the final interview happen fast. This was when everything got even worse. The recruiter constantly failed to get back to me and to find some time for this interview. Eventually I got tired with the lack of professionalism displayed and decided not to go through with the process.

      Application

I interviewed at Red Badger (London, England)

      Interview

A positive experience during interview and thought provoking take home test. Experience was only let down by the poor recruiting department. Expect time to be wasted. Red Badger would be a good company to work for but talent team have little care or consideration for applicants.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Red Badger

      Interview

Initial communications with HR manager over phone. One 15 minute call discussing my ambitions the position and how it relates to the company. Then sent a coding challenge by email: fairly extensive web-based solution required, either front-end (with JS), back-end (Ruby) or a mix of the two (depending on how the candidate wishes to solve the problem. Followed by a face to face interview with a director, team leader and developer (who also reviewed the code submitted for the previous challenge). Discussions covered CV, general experience, consulting experience, interests, then moved to how Red Badger works. Whole process took ~1 hour.
