My interview was with two heads of the company who were themselves developers and active in day-to-day development. It was very casual for an interview- we sat at a table where lunch had just been eaten and there were bits of food everywhere. My technical knowledge was quizzed a bit but not as much as I've experienced at other interviews for similar positions. A great deal of care was taken on their part to establish what my interests were as a developer and what type of work would make me happiest. The two were friendly and reassuring during the interview, which is contrary to what I experienced once I came aboard to work full time.
