1st reach - phone call
2nd - interview - THE WORST I'VE EVER HAD! The department manager was gruff and sounded bored. He went through a pitch about the company and from the start appeared to be annoyed with being there. He then said that he needed to save his voice for a 1 pm meeting and asked me to talk through my entire resume - explaining my work experience. As I spoke he stared through me, not at, through and didn't smile, respond, or show any indication that he was registering what was being said. He occasionally looked at his watch as if a 15 minute discussion - sorry, speech, was taking up too much of his time.
Upon my completion I asked him what the culture was like at Kobo. He retorted - one word 'Chaos'. Yeah um...really selling it there.
My impression from that interview is that Kobo would be a waste of anyone's time. I have important tasks to deal with on a day to day basis in my current role so I certainly did not appreciate my time being wasted in that manner. I recommend to others to avoid having their time wasted as well.
Finally, Kobo is currently hiring to meet an exponentially huge target such as 600 employees or so by January and they were at just over 100 last Jan. so yeah, chaos is a good definition for a company that grows that quickly.
