      Part Time Sales Associate Interview

      3 Oct 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Durham, NC
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at RH (Durham, NC)

      Interview

Most bizarre interview I've ever gone on. The manager was very rude and hostile. She tossed aside my resume and began having me read from a "core values" brochure. She demanded that I answer in detail, then stated I'd gone into too much detail. By the way, she also mentioned she'd had a very high turnover due to the fact that decent people hadn't applied. And I spoke to a current employee and they told me that they were overworked. Once I decided to accept the job that was offered to me, I felt like I made a good decision for about a week. Then the hostility was present.

      Long Beach, CA
      No offer
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at RH (Long Beach, CA)

      Interview

Filled out an application online, got called back for an interview a week later. Had the interview inside the store showroom first with the manager, asked me questions such as what would you bring to Restoration Hardware, what is your 5 year plan, what are your weaknesses. Then left me with the application to fill out again while he went to go get the lead sales associate to interview me too. Her questions were little more scattered, but she would ask me situational questions such as, "Sell me this chair" or what is it that you like about Restoration Hardware.

      Part Time Sales Associate Interview

      17 Jul 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at RH (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2013

      Interview

The managers were interesting people and were very nice. Definitely felt less like they were gauging my experience and more like they wanted to see if I would fit in with the company and culture of the store. At the time the position and the possibilities seemed like a good fit and like a nice creative outlet, but you soon find out that the actual creative opportunities are extremely limited. They definitely build up your role more than it is, essentially selling you on why you should work there, which is fine, but definitely you are going to be let down after you finish your interviewing process and actually take your job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They will ask about your experience, a time that you had to help someone out, kind of the usual questions, then just ask about your prior experiences in life and what you want out of a job there.
