      Test Automation Engineer Interview

      28 Oct 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Quatt in Oct 2024

      Interview

The initial interview was relaxed, with the recruiter being open and transparent about the company and the hiring process. I then completed a technical assessment. The technical interview was led by a Test Automation Engineer. I got the impression that any answer differing from what the interviewer expected was considered incorrect. There seemed to be a bias towards the tools and techniques that the interviewer personally used, and it felt like my choices were criticized rather than being openly discussed. I chose not to challenge these questions, but it left me uncomfortable, and I believe that working day-to-day in such an environment could be toxic. In the end, they evaluated me as less qualified and suggested moving forward with a mid-level position rather than a senior one, stating that I needed to grow to meet their expectations. This was quite disappointing, given the time I had invested, and the outcome was not what I hoped for. Still, it's better to discover this during the interview process rather than after accepting an offer and facing these challenges in the workplace.

      Test Automation Engineer Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

      Interview

Job Interview Experience The interview process consisted of multiple rounds. First Round: The initial interview was easy and conversational. The recruiter was transparent about the company and the hiring process, which made me feel comfortable and informed Code Assignment: I completed the coding assignment with a focus on producing robust, well-structured code. I used static analysis tools to ensure quality, Second Technical Interview: This interview focused on discussing the coding assignment and my technical knowledge. I was interviewed by two individuals: a Test Automation Engineer and a Backend Developer. The Test Automation Engineer led most of the questioning, which accounted for about 90% of the interview. However, I noticed that many of the questions were poorly phrased or incorrectly framed, which led to some confusion. I chose not to correct them to avoid potentially offending anyone. This experience left me feeling that the interview process was somewhat unfair, as it seemed that the decision-makers lacked the experience and knowledge necessary to fully assess my capabilities. It was disappointing to receive a rejection after putting in so much effort, especially when it felt like the evaluation was conducted by someone less experienced in the field.
