It was a 3-part interview: an over-the-phone 30-minute initial interview with the HR, then an on-site with the Head of Content, and finally a test assignment.
The phone interview was good, a light-hearted conversation with the HR, which allowed me get to know the company and its goals, as well as the HR to ask me the questions they were interested in.
The on-site was with the Head of Content only, because the Head of Design was away and couldn't participate. The interview was generally fine, however it felt that the interviewer was distracted, and some of the questions were asked for the sake of asking. Apparently, they were having an all hands that day, so I can understand the distraction, but still we could've make the interview on a different day. All in all, it lasted for about an hour.
The third part, which is a test assignment turned out to be quite a disappointment. The task itself was fine, a fair assignment to see whether a candidate can do their job. During the on-site interview which was on Wednesday afternoon, I was told I would receive the task later that day, so we set the deadline for Friday of the same week. However, I didn't receive the task that day. On Thursday morning, I emailed them asking about the task. They said they'd sent it, which in fact they didn't as they noticed later. Eventually, the task was sent, on Thursday afternoon. I asked to reschedule the deadline and make it Monday because of this hiccup and I had other commitments too. They extended the deadline till Sunday, which I didn't want to argue as they mentioned they were looking for a person to join urgently. So I completed the task on time, and was expecting for them to get back to me "with some feedback as soon as possible" (citing the email from HR). It turned out that "as soon as possible" was a week later although I followed up half way, but my email was completely ignored. I also received no feedback whatsoever. Instead, a week later I got an automatic generic email, saying they've decided to go with another candidate. In return, I asked for the feedback from them, because I do believe that it's fair, if you expect a candidate to work on the assignment and spend their time, you should spend at least 10 minutes of yours on a feedback for them. As previously, I received no response whatsoever.
