      Product Analyst III Interview

      22 Jul 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cleveland, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Cleveland, OH) in Jun 2011

      Interview

2 days after applying online I was emailed and asked to take a Pre-employment test, basically an online logic and skills/interests test that takes 30 to 60 minutes to complete. It is timed and I think I had a maximum of 90 minutes to complete the test. They liked my results and the next day I was contacted by email for a 1-hour phone screen with an HR representative. In my past experience, normally this is the easy part of the interviewing process since HR reps tend to ask more general questions, but in this case it was 1 hour of general behavioral questions. Luckily I had looked up questions online beforehand and some responses ready. I was then scheduled for a 2 hour in-person interview, 1 hour each with a group of 2 people. This is the part of the interview that seemed REALLY tedious - I felt like I was basically grilled for 2 1/2 hours with behavioral questions focusing on past analyses and data. I had not prepared for this in-depth of questioning and had trouble recalling all the specific data sets I worked with and what sort of analysis techniques I used on each column of data. The questions seemed a bit over the top to me and the interview also seemed one-sided, where they grilled me with questions but there was no time left for me to ask questions of the interviewers.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

If I gave you a set of data and asked you why our number of customers in a certain state were down, what would you do? They then asked me to be more specific even though I had no specifics about the hypothetical data.

      Question 2

Tell me about a time you had to work with faulty data and how you dealt with it?
