      Average interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted a few days later to take the skills assessment. After completing that I was contacted to set up a phone interview. After the phone interview I was told I would be moved on to an in person interview. Approximately 2 weeks later I received an email scheduling an in person interview for the next day. I'm an out of state candidate and advised the recruiter of this in our phone interview. Even if I was not an out of state candidate, I am currently employed and would need at least another day's notice. I asked if we could reschedule. I was told they would get back to me by the end of the following week with a new interview date. A week came and went and I followed up with the recruiter on my own. I was told there was an influx of internal candidates and they needed to be interviewed first and they would follow up with me after. I responded asking if I would be eligible to apply for the same position in a neighboring city. I still have not received a response.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Atlanta, GA) in May 2016

      Interview

I type this knowing that in the morning my landlord will call the police and a moving company to finally evict me. This job was my last chance and now I embark on a journey of being homeless. Let this serve for others to better understand the politics of an interview. After applying many times, I finally got an invitation for a phone interview. The phone interview was standard targeted behavior questions. They even prompt you in the email what kind of questions to expect. We move forward with the process and scheduled an in person interview. Now trouble happens. To begin I arrive 10 minutes early, but I wait in the lobby for 25 minutes. I great the interviewer and he tells me that he and another person will be conducting the interview together. I wasn't prepared for a second person, but no big deal. I though since I scheduled the interview for 1 p.m. the interviewer would have eaten lunch already, but he and the second interviewer eat while they interview me. I had to ask on more than one occasion for the second one to repeat questions because he spoke with his mouth full. Going over my resume, he commented that I may be overqualified and made fun of some of my previous experience (IT Specialist). The questions were unlike any I have ever heard and I was not prepared for them, but I pressed on and sold myself. I was really committed to getting into the insurance field and have been studying and getting distinctions on my own. The main interviewer was visibly bothered by my commitment to the insurance industry, which didn't make sense to me at the time. Apparently your not supposed to seem more qualified than the person interviewing you.
