      Content Writer Interview

      30 Aug 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Productive Shop in Aug 2025

      Interview

The interview process was quite disappointing. The interviewer left me waiting twice for scheduled meetings, and, during the second meeting, joined 15 minutes late. Most of the discussion focused on questions about my job test - points that could have been clarified in advance when the assignment was given, or even addressed later by email. The feedback style felt more critical than constructive, which made the interaction less productive. While I understand the importance of precision in assessments, the overall experience reflected a lack of preparation and professionalism in the process. In the end, I believe this may have been a positive outcome, as it highlighted the importance of working with teams that value clear communication, mutual respect, and well-structured processes. Totally different from what I experienced here.

      Content Writer Interview

      2 Nov 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Productive Shop (Toronto, ON) in Sept 2023

      Interview

After four rounds and two months, they ghosted me. I first applied on Indeed. The person who would be my direct manager reached out and asked for different writing samples than the ones I had provided. I sent them to her and she scheduled an interview with me. During the interview she asked more questions about what I know rather than what I can do. I was asked to define terms and explain sentence structures. After the interview she sent me the next steps, which included a 1200 blog post in 48 hours. I completed the task and she said she would like me to meet with her again; and this time we would be joined by the CEO of the company. At this point, I'm getting excited about a possible job offer. During the interview, she told me my writing sample was an 8 out of 10 and assured me that was a high score. The CEO then proceeded to ask me many of the same questions I had in my previous interview. They then started to ask me random questions like "do you travel a lot?" and "tell me something going on in the news." At one point he also said "you work in Finance? What's a stock?" The whole thing felt very rude and patronizing, especially considering all the time and work I had put in already. They often muted themselves and talked between themselves as I was answering questions. They then asked for more writing samples. I sent them and they said they would be in touch. I never heard from them again. I can't help but wonder if the work I did was used as free labour or if they just moved on to someone else. Overall, terrible experience and a huge waste of time.
