      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Product People

      Interview

The case study was interesting to solve, and the first call with the HR person was nice. But then it got worse and worse: the process was really slow (given that they are a small company, it was almost unbearably slow) and poorly organized. The part that I really disliked was that it felt like an exam. The final interview is basically a 30-minute call, 20 of which is an uninterrupted presentation of the case study, 7 minutes for their questions, and a couple of last minutes might be used for candidates' questions. So basically, they get the chance to understand candidates' abilities as they like, but they don't really give candidates time to talk to anyone in the company except in the initial HR call.

      Question 1

How do you like giving and receiving feedback? Why did you select that metric?

Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with some aspects of the process, but glad to know that your enjoyed solving a Product Challenge (case study). As all the candidates who have completed the Product Challenge receive detailed feedback, we hope you found it useful and actionable. We aim to keep our process lean and limit the time invested in the calls, both for the candidates and the Product People team taking part in the recruitment process. While keeping the calls short, we make sure to have ample time for the candidate to ask questions during the Culture Fit Call, and reserve some time for it during the Product Challenge presentation. We do not require the candidate to invest more time into speaking with many team members, but in many cases, successful candidates reach out to several team members and have virtual coffee chats with them to learn more about Product People. Thank you for also mentioning the length of the process for you. We are continuously working on speeding it up, even though sometimes we are slower than we wish to be due to a high number of applications and a small team.

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Product People in May 2026

      Interview

They boast about being “feedback-oriented,” yet they put candidates through an endless selection process that wastes a huge amount of time, while protecting themselves by constantly emphasizing their 0.5% acceptance rate. The first interview with HR was extremely basic, just a simple culture-fit conversation with predictable questions. The recruiter even admitted that I was strongly aligned with the role and said I would soon receive instructions for the next step, the product challenge. A few days later, I received a rejection email with no explanation whatsoever, despite the supposed strong alignment during the culture-fit interview. Avoid this company if you don’t have time to waste. It feels like they already have internally selected candidates they plan to hire anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the process felt lengthy and that the outcome felt unclear. We aim to run a structured, fair process that gives candidates enough context to evaluate whether Product People is the right fit, while also being respectful of everyone’s time. We recognize that we don’t always get this balance right, and we’ll review your comments internally. We also want to emphasize that we don’t pre-select candidates in advance; decisions are made throughout the process based on the information available at each stage. Thank you again for your candid feedback, and we wish you the very best in your next steps.
