The recruiter contacted me about a month after submitting my resume. My conversation with the hiring manager didn't go well. It became clear very quickly that I didn't have the specific experience he was looking for. It was at that point he tuned out. He seemed to be doing something in another window. So I was shocked when I got a request for references from Press Ganey. I wanted to stay in the process because the market is terrible. I contacted my references but they couldn't leave a recommendation in the system. I followed up with the recruiter and he said the reference request was sent to "a bunch of candidates" by mistake. No apology or admission of messing up. Mistakes happen, but this was very disappointing to someone who is out of work. This wasn't the job for me, and that's fine. BUT if the people I dealt with were just a little less flippant and unsympathetic they wouldn't be facing a bad review on Glassdoor.
