I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at PortSwigger in Jan 2026
Interview
The initial round was ok with nice introductions, but then they move to a coding challenge which is supposed to be completed in 4-6 hours, but took me close to 8-9 hours. This is my feedback about the entire process:
1. After spending half a weekend on this and after setting expectations with the recruiter that this will be done at a specific time, I still got emails asking if I am proceeding further or dropping out. And once I sent over the solution, there was complete radio silence for 8 days!
2. The email responding to the coding challenge review says that 'stuff xyz does not work' when it is the opposite; it works, I have a test case for it. They regurgitated some sentences from somewhere possibly to try to justify that they do not want to hire anymore. It also lacks the professionalism, and seems borderline cruel considering its a blatant lie.
3. Their third party recruitment agency and in-house recruiters do not talk, and I was the go-between for them.
My reading was that this was a small/mid-scale, founder-led company and hence would be a good next step for career progression, but it seems that they have some vague, opinionated ideas about hiring and conducting reviews which might not hold them in good stead. Dodged a bullet probably.
