I don’t even know if I can call this an interview experience, but I applied for a position at Polaroid in Amsterdam and received an email saying they thought I was a strong candidate. However, they mentioned that the salary they could offer was lower than what I had asked for. The number was slightly below my expectation, but I was genuinely excited about the opportunity because I grew up with Polaroid products and the role itself sounded very interesting. I also thought the email was professional and respectful.
I replied saying that I was okay with the salary they were offering. After that, I heard nothing back. I sent a follow-up email a few days later, but they completely ghosted me for exactly 2 months and 3 days before finally sending a generic rejection email.
I understand that companies consider multiple candidates and that not every application moves forward, but I expected more professional communication and basic respect throughout the process.
