Three rounds over the course of about 5 weeks. First round was zoom meeting with the hiring manager, second round was a presentation where I had to present a wellness proposal for the client (large corporate client) to a panel, and the final round was an in person interview with the client point of contact and hiring manager. I also had a 1.5 hour zoom meeting with the hiring manager prior to the final interview just to discuss the clients goals and ideas for the position. While this was a lot of work, it wasn’t out of the ordinary from experiences I have had in other interviews and didn’t bother me too much. However, my issue came going into the final round interview. I was told I was selected as a finalist for the site leader position but could only go into the interview if I accepted the offer for a lower level position (the non-site leader position) which was not a job I applied to. This left a very bad taste in my mouth and felt like a bait and switch, especially as it was not a job I otherwise would have interviewed for or accepted based on my experience level. It also completely removed any opportunity for salary negotiations or allowing the candidates to finish “interviewing” the company before accepting. I am not sure if this is typical for this company or if this was the client’s choice but I would warn anyone applying to this company that this is a possibility. Overall, it was not a terrible experience with the company itself and I cannot say enough nice things about my interactions with the hiring manager. Just be aware this is a possibility going into the interview process.
